Tech Post (Tasks App) – Record that thought right away. Don’t wait.

We live in an interesting time. It’s become the norm to have your smartphone with you pretty much all the time. One way I’ve learned to use this device, is to immediately record thoughts I have, that would be beneficial to remember. I use a simple, free app called Tasks. This Android app that has a widget which puts the task list right on the home screen of my phone.

So far, it has worked great for this daily blog I started. I have ideas at random times for posts. Sometimes it’s when I’m driving and sometimes it’s when I’m writing an email to a customer. When that thought comes along, I’ve started the habit of grabbing my phone immediately and quickly recording a very quick version of that thought. Just enough to remember it.

The Tasks app has a few simple, but great features. It allows for multiple lists that can easily be swiped left to right when switching from list to list. It also syncs well with the task list in gmail. This is helpful to see the same lists in real time, while you are working in gmail.

Here are a few of the ongoing lists I keep:

  • Future Blog Posts
  • Print Shop Ideas (ideas to improve my business)
  • Website Fixes (fixes and improvements to my shop’s website)
  • Jazz Artists (I regularly Shazam songs on Jazz 88.3, and want to remember some of those artists to check out in the future)
