I started this blog on January 1st of 2019. The first post was called “A new year, a new blog, an opportunity for a new decision”. I had the “goal” of writing a blog post everyday, but had made a decision to keep writing it even if I didn’t attain that goal exactly. As 2019 came to a close, I counted 65 blog posts in total. I’d say that wasn’t bad overall. It was more than one a week. Going forward, I think I’ll aim for weekly posts (52 new posts in the year 2020).
One lesson learned from this, was that sometimes we start something new and wonderful, and then for whatever reason we stop. However, at times we make the mistake of defining our “stop” as the end. It’s good to remember that just because something stopped for a while, doesn’t mean it has to completely end. Something like a blog can be revived by just sitting down and taking 15 minutes to create a new post, even if we haven’t posted for a long time. This simple act has the ability of quickly and easily breathing life back into a project. In my mind, instead of “stopping the blog posts”, I redefined it as “pausing the blog posts”. Sometimes a pause can be a few months, and sometimes it can be 25+ years, as we saw with Twin Peaks.
